Old Farts in Go-Carts

Filed under: Uncategorized — randyinman @ 10:04 am

I was delivering in a neighborhood on Saturday when I heard the buzz of Go-Carts. I expected to see some kids, but it was two old dudes (at least 50 years old) and they were flying around in a race. It was a trip seeing two old fat guys in those little machines.

Get paid to lose weight!

Filed under: Work — randyinman @ 10:02 am

Do you want to get paid to lose weight? Well I never thought about it till recently, but that is what I am doing! That’s right the FedEx weight loss plan. I started working for them in October of last year. I have lost about 25 pounds and went down 2 pants sizes!

All the walking I do, delivering packages, plus running from dogs lol. My most recent exercise was on Saturday when 5 knee high collies got after me. One nipped me but a swing at his head with my scanner (I missed) got him to back off. The dogs got into a frenzy and started fighting each other while I lumbered ( Im to fat to sprint) back to the van!

But Fedex pays pretty well and I get free exercise so it’s a good gig.

The Virginia Tech Shooting

Filed under: Uncategorized — randyinman @ 12:43 pm

Everyone is looking for someone to blame, from the school to the cops. And of course the evil guns and their law abiding owners are being attacked.

A gun ban won’t solve the problem of crime. I do think that the law there and everywhere (that it’s like that) should be changed about mental patients owning guns. Apparently if you sign yourself up for treatment, rather than being committed, it does not show on the background check.

I think if you get mental treatment, you should have papers signed by the facility, saying that you are no threat (the best that they can determine) before being able to get a gun.

When your neighbor is a sex offender.

Filed under: Uncategorized — randyinman @ 11:47 pm

From time to time I look on the North Carolina Sex Offender Website to see if anyone I know is on there or neighbors.  I knew about two in the mobil home park I live in. Now I look tonight and see my next door neighbor on there.

Seems like a nice guy, real quiet and stays to himself. I even thought well of him recently when he prevented a fire in the woods from getting out of hand. Where it was burning, my home was at risk. The guy kept it from spreading until the fire department got here.

I find tonight he served 10 years of a 15 year sentence for rape with a weapon. Funny thing is I was just watching a rerun of the police show “The District” where somebody was killing sex offenders. Which is what got me to check the site again.  I worry because I work 12-15 hours a day and my fiancee and daughter are here alone.  Time to buy her that handgun she has been wanting.

Who woudda thunk it?

A publisher wants to meet with me to discuss me writing for his company. He wants writers for books he does for kids. And he is also wanting to toss around an idea for a football related book.

I have known the guy for several years so I sent him my AC content link and he liked some of my stuff.  He is new to the publishing business but has written at least one but I think 2 books himself. Wish me luck I will sure need it lol.

Weird Dog Encounters

Filed under: Uncategorized — randyinman @ 7:22 pm

Had some weird dog things happen today. As you may or may not know or care, I deliver for FedEx and see lots of dogs.

First I had a poodle follow me every step from the van to a house. Barking, growling and acting like he was a big bad dog. After dropping the package off, I turned and growled at the little dog. He urinated all over himself and took off.

2nd I was walking up to the house and saw another little lap dog type. He started yapping, and then this huge tom cat came out from under the car. He took one look at the dog and the dog shut up! That is a dog that has had his butt kicked by that cat.

3rd I was following a car that had a dog riding in the passenger seat. He was sticking his head out the window and having a fine time. We went slow around a curve and these two big German Shepards took off chasing the car with the dog in it. The dog in the car jerked his head in so fast I thought he must have gotten whiplash! It looked like a turtle going into his shell.

4th This rather stupid chained up dog decided he just had to get me. So he comes around the side of his dog house, wide open barking and growling. When he ran out of chain everything kept moving except his head. All 4 feet and his body snapped forward but the chain around his neck stopped him.  It didn’t kill him (too bad) but it sure messed up his day.

I worked 54 hours in 4 days! I am more worn out than a set of jumper cables at a Redneck Bar on a Saturday Night.  Wonderful driver that I am, I backed my FedEx van into a muddy part of a driveway. An hour and a half and a $90 Tow Bill later I got out.

We did have a driver get very badly hurt in a wreck this week.  She rolled her truck and hit a tree.  She has a fractured skull and injured her back.  So I guess I can’t complain too much about being tired.

Embarrising moment for my little girl

Filed under: Blogroll — randyinman @ 11:53 am

I have an 11 year old daughter. For Valentines day she got a card from a 1st Grader she rides the bus with. The Card said “Going to the Pasture and gonna get married” along the lines of the old song :”Going to the chapel and gonna get married”

It just kills her when we start singing that song to her now. It’s a wonder she didn’t pound him for giving that to her.
